Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
EAGALA - Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association
EAGALA is the leading organization for psychotherapists who are in
the practice of equine-assisted psychotherapy. Therapists performing EAP
include Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists; clinical psychologists;
Licensed Clinical Social Workers; and psychiatrists (Medical Doctors).
Licensure for therapists varies from state to state. EAGALA offers courses
and certification in its own Growth and Learning program.
Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding
The National Center for Equine Facilitated Therapy
NCEFT is one of the premier hippotherapy centers in North America.
Patients include very young children with severely disabling neurological
conditions such as cerebral palsy. Hippotherapy must be performed by physical
therapists, occupational therapists, or speech therapists.

Ranch Therapeutic Riding
The BOK Ranch is one of the oldest therapeutic riding centers in the
United States. Therapeutic riding is typically used for adults and children
with conditions such as autism, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and chronic
fatigue syndrome (CFIDS).
